how quickly can i click?

Clicks per second, or CPS, is a measure of how fast one can physically click a mouse button. While not necessarily practical for everyday use in computing, it's an often-used metric for gamers who continually hone their finger reflexes and dexterity to gain an edge in game speed runs, as well as for testing the speed of one's connection when playing online games.

When considering click speed measurements, it's important to keep in mind that there are two very different results. The first is the average number of clicks recorded over a short period of time, usually five or 10 seconds. The second is the total number of clicks made in a single-second bout with no pauses between clicks. This measurement is known as "Maximum Clicks Per Second," or MCPS.

Intermediate players may be able to click between 1 and 5 CPS on average, while professional players have been recorded as clicking up to 15-20 CPS. Professionals like ESAM and VoHiYo regularly click 17-19 CPS on average during tournaments using special gaming mice designed for maximum precision and accuracy. To build up your average CPS it's important to practice clicking both quickly and accurately—these two concepts should go hand-in-hand during training sessions.

Fortunately, anyone can easily test their current click speed with the help of many available online tools like "CPS Tester" or "CPR Test." To get started, all you need is your finger ready and Google Chrome open; all you have to do is enter "CPS Tester" into the search bar! Once you've completed the test you'll be able to see your Average CPS and Maximum CPS so you can track your progress over time.
